"WEST LEBANON, April 3 (Special) - Thomas Corwin Fleming, 88, Civil War veteran, and one of Warren county's best known residents, died Monday evening [April 2, 1934] at 5:15 o'clock at his home here, of heart complications.

Born March 15, 1846, a mile south of West Lebanon, he was a son of Madison and Sarah Fleming, pioneer settlers of Warren county. Mr. Fleming was a life-long resident of Warren county and a prominent farmer. He retired in 1900, and came here for residence. On Nov. 10, 1867, he was married to India Goodwine, who preceded him in death a number of years ago.

During the Civil War, Mr. Fleming served with the 72nd Indiana regiment and later was transferred to the 44th Indiana. He was a member of the Masonic and Knights of Pythias lodges.

Two sons, Ray Fleming and Burton Fleming, of West Lebanon; and a daughter, Mrs. W.A. Bell of Coral Gables, FL, survive. Funeral arrangements are awaiting word from the daughter." - Lafayette Journal & Courier - Tue 4/3/1934
