OBITUARY: 

Mrs. Lettie Townsend, 88, widow of John Townsend, died at her home in Sheridan on Monday, October 24. 


Funeral services were held at Sheridan Wednesday at 10 o'clock with burial in the Brown cemetery near Dallas. 


Mrs. Townsend was a member of an early pioneer family. She came to Oregon with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. McCracken, in 1853. She is survived by four daughters, Mary and Mabel Townsend, Sheridan; Mrs. Anna Reed, Sheridan; Mrs. Nellie Cook, New Grand Ronde; one son, Jesse, of Salem, and three brothers, Jasper McCracken, now 94 years of age, who resides in California; John McCracken, 82, Clackamas county, and Berry McCracken, also an aged man who lives in Idaho. 

Mrs. Townsend was a relative of Mrs. Hulda Savery of Dallas and has many relatives and friends in and near Dallas.

Missouri); lived in town 18y; interment Brown cem, Dallas; informant Jessie Townsend of Salem.
