Eva M. Britton, 78, of Fort Madison, died on Friday, May 9, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on Nov. 23, 1929 in Fort Madison to Talton and Hattie Stanton Stigall. She married Richard F. Britton on Aug. 16, 1952 in Fort Madison. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2005. She worked at the Fort Madison Middle School cafeteria for 27 years. She was a longtime member of the lzaak Walton Club.
Eva is survived by one daughter, Debbie (husband Mike) Murphy of Fort Madison; three sons, Douglas (wife Pamela) Britton of Medill, Mo., Greg (wife Sherry) Britton of Keosauqua and Kevin (wife Becky) Britton of Fort Madison; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchlldren and two brothers, Glenn Stigall of Fort Madison and Duane Stigall of Keokuk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother. Vincent Stigall.
The family will meet with friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 with the funeral service to follow immediately after at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Soldiers Circle in Oakland Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Lee County Hospice and contributions may be left at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.
