Mrs.Lydia Stickel died suddenly Tuesday evening in the home of her son,Nathan E.Stickel,near Elwin in the neighborhood where she had made her home for 50 years. Mrs.Stickel was 76 years old on the fourth day of July. She had been suffering heart trouble for some time and was in Decatur Tuesday afternoon to see a physician. She felt better than usual as she left the physicians office but suffered a sinking spell when she reached home,from which she never recovered. A doctor was called at her request but she died at 8:15 before he arrived.
Mrs.Stickel was the widow of David H. Stickel who died in 1909. She was born near Rossville, Pa. and was married there just at the close of the Civl war. Mr.and Mrs. Stickel came to Macon county from Pennsylvania in the spring of 1868 and settled on a farm just west of Elwin where they lived until Mr. Stickels death. Since that time Mrs.Stickel has made her home with her son.
Besides her son she leaves one daughter,Mrs.Belle Jacobs and two grandchildren. Her grandson, Lloyd E.Stickel is enlisted in the U.S.Marines and is now stationed at Paris Island.
Funeral arrangements have not been made.
