Brother of Lucinda Brown Martin, George Washington Brown, Jemima Jane Brown Reynolds.

First Marriage

Bedford married Mary Ann Brown, born 1844, in Tennessee. Bedford and

Mary are found on the United States Census of 1860, living in the 17th Civil District, Carroll county, Tennessee. According to the Census records, both were born in North Carolina. Bedford is 23 and Mary is 17. 

Bedford and Mary Ann became the parents of six children:

• Mittie C. Brown, born 1865, in Carroll county, Tennessee, died 1920, in Carroll county, Tennessee, married William W. Perkins, on February 25, 1885, in Carroll county, Tennessee.

• Jethro Jefferson :JEFF" Brown, born August 3, 1874, in Carroll county, Tennessee, married Georgia Bell Ogles, on October 6, 1896, in Benton county, Tennessee. Georgia was born March 12, 1876, in Benton county, a daughter of John Lemuel Ogles and Malinda Artelia Smith. 

• James Porter Brown, born January 10, 1876, in Tennessee, died June 10 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee, married Artie G. Foust (1881-1980) in Henry CO, TN on December 24, 1898. 

• Zephora Permelia Brown, born 1877, in Carroll county, Tennessee

• Willliam Daniel Brown, born April 10, 1880, died September 11, 1936, married May Pearl White, daughter of James Wesley White and Sarah/Mary Jane Crews, on October 30, 1901, in Carroll county, Tennessee.
