Willie Belle Bates Strickland, 85, of Osyka, died January 15, 2012 at Singing River Hospital.
Mrs. Strickland was born October 10, 1926 in Gillsburg, MS. She was the daughter of Willie Gordon Bates and Bertha Jane Bates.
Mrs. Strickland was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a retired Seamstress from Kellwood Manufacturing in McComb. She has been a life time member of Osyka Baptist Church. She had a love for people and helping others. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnnie Carey Strickland; one son, John Allen Strickland; one daughter, Dianne S. Geren; one sister, Shirley Rushing and two brothers, Howard Lee Bates and Donald Ray Bates.
Mrs. Strickland is survived by her daughter, Sonja Morris and husband, Marvin Jr. of Moss Point, MS; two brothers, Hugh Bates and wife, Amelia of Kentwood, LA and Arthur Odessa Bates of Jackson, MS; three sisters, Avis Carmical and husband, Russell of Jackson, MS, Sylvia Stielpher and husband, Rick of Baltimore, MD and Barbara Ann Hall and husband, Billy of Amite, LA; one daughter-in-law, Carol Strickland of St. John, Newfoundland; four grandchildren, Kimberly Renea Yauch, Jeremy Dale Morris, Jeffery Strickland and Jason Strickland; 11 great grandchildren, Emma Morris, Cheyenne Morris, Hayden Morris, Cody Yauch, Leighton Koenenn, John John Koenenn, Laci Mae Koenenn, Ethan Strickland, Owen Lucas Strickland, Cole Strickland and Gabriella Strickland.
Visitation will be at Jones Family Funeral Services on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Osyka Baptist Church from 9:00 until services at 11:00 AM. Rev. Milton Kliesch will officiate. Burial will be in the Osyka Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Hall, Jamie Easley, Andy Woods, Christopher Yauch, Denman Strickland and Rick Stielpher.
