He held a membership with the First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles Lodge and the American Legion Post # 231 all of Newton.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marylee, Newton; 2 daughters, Martha (John) Crowe, Rosehill, KS and Peggy (Steve) Frankamp, Wichita; sister, Judy Long, Newton; grandchildren Cara and Brayden Crowe and Garrett Framkamp. Preceding him in death were brothers Roy, Russell and Chester (Pebby) Brainard, and sisters Wilma Jean Stein, Lucille Linderman, Esther Armstrong, Alma Shipley, and Charlotte Stevens.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 10:00 A.M. at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Gannon presiding. Visitation will be Monday, April 7, 2008 from 12 noon to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 5:30 P.M to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Military Services conducted by Navy Color Guard. Memorials may be made out to Hospice Care of Kansas. Friends may also sing the guest book online at www.broadwaycolonialfh.com
