BOSTON, SUFFOLK, MASSACHUSETTS, USA - Joseph A. Aldoupolis, 54, of Lisbon Falls, Androscoggin, Maine, USA, died Friday, May 9, at Brigham & Womens' Hospital with family at his side.



He was born in Quincy, Norfolk, Massachusetts, USA, Sept. 15, 1953, a son of Thomas and Lillian (Montilio) Aldoupolis. He was educated in Massachusetts schools and had been a Lisbon Falls resident since 1990.



On Dec. 7, 1974, he married the former Arlene Reicher of Milan, Coos, New Hampshire, USA. After high school, Joe entered the service, joining the U.S. Navy and went on to pursue a Naval career that spanned 28 years until his retirement in December 1999. While in the Navy, he became a jet engine mechanic and retired as a maintenance officer.



After his retirement from the Navy, he returned to higher education and received his bachelor's degree in teaching. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and a very active member of the Lisbon Fish & Game, where he served as treasurer for several years.



He was also a Hunter Safety Instructor for 10 years for the state of Maine, USA. His other favorite hobby was working on and building model ships and planes. He enjoyed reading about military history. But most of all, he loved his family and was a loving and devoted husband to Arlene and father to his children Dawn and Nick. He will be sadly missed by his family and the many, many friends and associates who he came to know over the course of his long career.



He leaves his wife of 33 years, Arlene Aldoupolis of Lisbon Falls, Androscoggin, Maine, USA; a daughter, Dawn Aldoupolis of Brentwood, Rockingham, New Hampshire, USA; a son, Nicholas Aldoupolis of Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts, USA; his mother, Lillian Aldoupolis of Norwell, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA; five sisters, Adele Aldoupolis of Norwell, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, Carol Aldoupolis of Newbedford, Massachusetts, USA, Diane Bradley and husband, Tomm of Marshfield, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, Anita Sinnott and husband, David, of Middleboro, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, and Teresa Feeney and husband, Johnny, of Braintree, Norfolk, Massachusetts, USA; three brothers, George Aldoupolis and wife, Helen, of Norwell, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, Ernest Aldoupolis and companion, Diane, of Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, and Thomas Aldoupolis of Quincy, Norfolk, Massachusetts, USA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.



He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Aldoupolis.



The family would like to thank all the staff at Brigham and Women's hospital for all the great care they gave him during his stay.
