Billy Taylor, 83, left peacefully to live with Jesus on Saturday, May 10, 2008, shortly after his 55th wedding anniversary May 2.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Wednesday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel of Fort Worth. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Billy was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Alvord. He grew up in Bowie, where he was a high school star basketball player. He was the son of Emmett J. Taylor and Renda Talitha Sides and the second youngest of five children.
In 1953 he married Margaret Rosa Alice Conn. They had three children, Margaret Kathryne, Janis Marie and Timothy Calvin. A loving father, he was involved in all his children's activities, including sports and Scouts. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking them on many vacations. His passion later in life was genealogy.
He retired from General Dynamics after 42 years of service.
Survivors: Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret; children, Margaret, Janis and Timothy; son-in-law, Kevin McCormick; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jodie, Kathryn, Matthew and Patrick; great-grandchildren, Raven and Skylar; sister, Lorene; and many nieces and nephews.
