Ruth Maxine Coons Curry was born June 16, 1900 at Republic County, Kans., to John and Amanda Coons. Her early life was spent at Chester, Nebr., where she received her education. While residing in Chester she was a member of the Christian Church and actively engaged in the work of the church.

On June 14, 1936 she was united in marriage to Pearl Curry of Ashby, Nebr. They moved to Well Valley Precinct south of Ashby, remaining there until 1943 when they moved to their ranch southeast of Arthur. Later Mrs. Curry united with the Arthur Baptist Church, where she has been an active member. For the past three years she has been working with the Junior Church and in that she found both the work and the children most endearing to her.

Mrs. Curry showed remarkable improvement during the past week and had even commented on her recovery and looked forward to returning to her home. On Sunday evening, Jan. 1, at the Ogallala Community Hospital, she heard her Saviour call and departed from this earthly pilgrimage.

She is survived by her husband, Pearl; her daughters, Mrs. Nadine Powers and Mrs. Dorothy Golden of Keystone and Mrs. Bernetha Groves of Ashby; son, Elwyn Curry of Ashby; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Moxham of Lincoln and Mrs. Della Kavanaugh of Belleville, Ks.; three brothers, Roy of Sterling, Colo., Floyd of Belleville, Ks., and Frank of Chester. Two brothers, Harry and Clarence, preceded her in death. There are twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 4 at the Arthur Baptist Church and at the Chester Christian Church on Jan. 5 at two o'clock. Clergymen in charge were the Rev. Geo. Nehf of Ogallala and the Rev. Gerald Beckenhauer. Mrs. Ray Truss was the organist, Mrs. Wilbert Crouse and Mrs. John E. Crouse the singers. Pallbearers were Frank Larkins, Max Larkins, Clarence Palmer, Harry Rieke, Joe Hunt and Harry Hunt. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge.
