Daughter of ALFRED JAMES BETTES, a tailor and his wife ANNIE GERTRUDE (nee HOLMES). She was baptised on 11th January, 1911 at St. Mark's Church, Battersea Rise.
FLORRIE had been out playing with her friends when a storm began to blow in. Her father went outside to bring her back home and as the heavy rain began to fall they took shelter under a tree on Wandsworth Common.
A lightening strike hit the tree and killed Florrie, her father and two other people sheltering under the tree.
She was buried in the same coffin as her father, being laid in his arms for eternity.
