John and Annie had children: William Calvin, John Edward, James D, Edmund "Ed", and Aaron Mancill, there may be others, but I haven't found any record of them yet.
Resided Red Level, Covington County, Alabama, according to the 1850 Census, and John was a Farmer.
NOTE: A second stone located at the head of the graves of John J & Annie Mancill reads: John J. Mancil memorial 1823-1861, however, it is obvious that the earlier marker with the death date of 1859 is correct as wife Annie/Anna appears on the 1860 census widowed with small children.
John Jackson Mancill did pass away in 1859 in Red Level, Covington County, Alabama. The 1861 date is incorrect.
