In her history of Alice and Fraser, in Ontario, and quoting from 'The Pembroke Standard-Observer, Mrs. O'Meara says that in the early days "The chief amusement was the occasional dance... Old Mr. Miskimmons would be there with his fiddle playing 'Flowers of Edinburgh'... and any other tune to suit the need.

"Thomas, Sr., had at least three sons and eight daughters.
Their eldest, John, was born in Ireland about 1844.
Their other sons were Thomas and James. Thomas, Jr., moved to Broadview, Saskatchewan in 1898 to be with his sons.
John moved to Sault Ste. Marie.
The girls in the family included, Mary Ann (Mrs. O'Leary); Jane* (Mrs. Alexander Smith) of Regina; Ellen; Esther (Mrs. Thomas Smith); Emily; Agnes; Rachel (Mrs. Biggs?); and Susannah (1863 - 1940) who married James C.
