Broadcasting Producer. Generally recognized as "The First Lady of Radio," she was the long-time producer of ABC Radio's "Paul Harvey News," and in 1997 became the first producer ever to be inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame. Born Lynee Cooper in St. Louis, Missouri, she was a graduate of Washington University there. Early in her career, while with a CBS affiliate, she became one of the nation's first women to run an entire daily broadcast, from 4 p.m. to midnight, which included everything from announcing state and local news to spinning records. She joined Paul Harvey both personally and professionally in 1940; after their move to Chicago in the mid 1940s it was her idea to air his news broadcasts at 10 p.m which increased his listening audience and became the standard time for evening news. In addition to producing "Paul Harvey News" for some 40 years, she was developer, producer, director, editor and writer of many pioneering programs including "The Rest of the Story," "Paul Harvey Comments" and "Dilemma," a television show that would become a prototype for today's modern talk show genre. Her impact on both radio and television was further recognized with the award of the 2006 Gracie Allen Tribute Award from the American Women in Radio and Television. She was also an inaugural inductee of the St. Louis Media Halls of Fame. Died of leukemia in River Forest, Illinois.
