Augustus Pennington was born on December 21, 1825, in Jefferson County, Georgia, the child of Thomas and Margarette B. He married Leah Elizabeth Perry and they had nine children together. He then married Catherine A Bloodworth and they had nine children together. He died on September 29, 1898, in Wilkinson County, Georgia, at the age of 72.
