Note: Birth-year supplied by granddaughter of Mary who found birth and baptismal records in Ireland, which both list her year of birth as 1874, not 1875.

Services for Mrs. Mary M. Gamache, 64, wife of Capt. Frederick J. Gamache, who died yesterday afternoon at the family residence, 210 Patterson street, will be held from the home at 8:30 Thursday morning and a half hour later at St. Mary's Cathedral. Interment will be in the family plot at Notre Dame cemetery.

Mrs. Gamache, for years prominent in Democratic circles, had been in failing health for some time, L.ut notwithstanding, her death was sudden. She had been about the house as usual in the morning but was stricken with a heart attack and could not summon strength to rally.

A native of Ireland. Mrs. Gamache was born in the Town of Drumbad, Country Leitrim, daughter of James and Mary McNeff McCartin. At the age of 14, she came to this country and made her home at Auburn until 1898. when she came to Ogdensburg. In 1904, she was married to Captain Gamache and had since resided in this city.

A champion in this area of the woman suffrage cause, Mrs. Gamache was one of the first set of women election inspectors. A staunch member of the Democratic party, Mrs. Gamache unswervingly defended its principles and was an active member of the Woman's City Democratic club. As a devout communicant of St. Mary's Cathedral parish, Mrs. Gamache was identified with the Sacred Heart and Rosary societies and devoted much time to promotional work in behalf of numerous charities.

Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Frederic J., Jr., city, and Lawrence J. Gamache of Brooklyn; two daughters, Mrs. W. C. Montpelier, also of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Donald O- Laplatney, Ogdensburg: a brother, Peter McCartin, New York: two sisters, Mrs. Terrence Dolan, Auburn, and Mrs. Elizabeth Greenwood of San Francisco, and three grandchildren.

One of the Fourth Ward's most highly esteemed residents, Mrs Gamache was a tender and loving mother and wife, and with her charitable and kindly traits had endeared herself to all with whom the came in contact. Her passing will occasion widespread mourning, and the community will join in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
