Pvt Joseph Hector Doe, aged 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delor Doe, 411 Rosseel St., reported missing in action in Luxembourg Jan 7 was killed on that date, according to a telegram from the War Department to his parents yesterday.

The first telegram, in which Pvt Doe was listed as missing, was received her January 25. His mother was in the Hepburn Hospital at the time, having undergone a major operation and was not immediately informed. She recovered later and was told the contents of the message.

Pvt Doe was born in this city and educated at St. Mary's Academy from which he was graduated. He joined the army a few months later and received his basic training in Alabama. Seventeen weeks after he enlisted he was sent overseas. On Dec 18 last he wrote to his parents that he had arrived in Europe and this was the last word they had from him prior to the telegram announcing he was missing.

Pvt Doe was a younger brother of Naval Ensign Lawrence Doe, who was killed in an aircraft plane crash while training at Pensacola Fla two years ago.

Surviving him are his parents and the following sisters: Mrs. George Para of this city, whose husband is serving on a destroyer; Mrs. Donald Demarse, whose husband is with the Amry in Germany; Miss Pauline Doe of Rochester; Mrs. Whitney Putnam and Miss Theresa Doe of this city; also two half-brothers, Theo Doe, Ogdensburg and Edward Doe of Syracuse; and two half sisters, Mrs. Dema Morissette of Massena and Sister Adelard of the Grey Nuns, Holy Cross Convent School, Ogdensburg.

Delor Doe is one of Ogdensburg's well known and esteemed citizens. He has conducted a trucking business her for many years and is a member of the City Welfare board.
