Mahala Utter was born May 26, 1807, in the state of Kentucky, and died January 3, 1890, near Bloomfield, Illinois, aged nearly 83 years. She moved with her parents from Kentucky to Ripley, Ohio, in an early day, where she was united in marriage to William Utter. To them was born 11 children, 4 of whom are still living. She was for several years a resident of this place, and her husband at one time was Treasurer of this county. Her funeral took place on last Saturday afternoon, her remains being interred in the Highfill Cemetery, 3½ miles south of town.
Family trees on ancestry.com and familysearch.org have much disinformation on her with many of them showing she died December 15, 1925. I have been asked to add her marriage record and for now I simply cannot provide proof. A tree on ancestry.com shows that she married William Burke Utter on November 4, 1825 in Clermont County, Ohio and that William P. Botts, Justice of the Peace performed the ceremony. I am trying to find proof, but in the meantime it is very possible that the marriage did occur in early November.
