Mrs. Margaret Meals Adkins, 87, died at her residence on Coleman Hill Monday after a short illness of pneumonia. Her remains were interred in the city cemetery the following day, the Rev. S. O. Payne, pastor of the Athens Presbyterian Church, conducting services, N.S. Hollon & Co. was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Adkins was born in Limestone County, near Salem, October 21, 1850, the daughter of the late James A. and Martha Ann Meals. For more than 30 years she had been a resident of Athens where she possessed many friends.

Surviving Mrs. Adkins are her husband, Thomas Alexander Adkins; a daughter, Mrs. Theo Harry (Eura) Christensen; a half-sister, Mrs. Mattie Smith; and two grandsons, Harris and Clarence Adkins Christensen.

*Preceded in death by one son, Willie M. Adkins.
