Elmer "Wayne" Brannon, 87, of Jacksonville, passed away one minute after midnight on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock due to complications of pneumonia and Parkinson's disease. Wayne was born January 15, 1935 in the Mt. Pleasant Community to the late Coy J. and Maude "Mimi" Brannon. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Barbara Barnett Brannon of Jacksonville; his brother, Vernon "Buzz" Brannon and sister-in-law, Patsy Brannon, both of Cabot.

Wayne graduated from Cabot High School and the Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway. He worked for the Pulaski County Special School District in Jacksonville, teaching American History and American Government for thirty-five years until retiring in 1996. He and his late wife, Barbara, loved to travel and went on many ocean cruises.

Wayne was also a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Jacksonville First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Scott) New of Jacksonville; his granddaughter, Sabrina (John) New Smith of Ward; his brother, Thomas Carroll (Devona) Brannon of Cabot; nephews, Tom Brannon of Little Rock, Matthew Brannon of Cabot, Michael Brannon of Cabot, and Mitchell Brannon of Oregon; cousins, Barbara Raley of Texas, and Kathy Ragar of Cabot; as well as many friends and extended family.

Funeral service held at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Wayne will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery after the service.
