On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, our beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Ronnie Lynn Stogsdill entered eternal rest due to leukemia at the age of 71.

Ronnie was born December 25, 1951 in Denison, Texas to Melburn and Marcell (Booe) Stogsdill, and grew up in Garland, Texas with his younger siblings Kent and Theresa. He attended school in Garland and graduated in 1971 from Garland High School. As an outgoing and charming kid, Ronnie forged friendships that lasted more than six decades. In 1977, he met the love of his life, Pat Bennett Gifford and her son Chris Gifford. Ronnie and Pat married two years later in 1979 and made Garland their home, where they raised their sons Chris and Jordan.

He loved football and was a PeeWee Football coach for fifteen years, coaching his sons for six of those years.

Ronnie worked for many years as a plumber and member of UA Local 100, before becoming a Plumbing Inspector for the City of Richardson. He retired from Richardson after thirty years of service. In retirement, Ronnie enjoyed the extra time with family, catching up with old friends, traveling, and dreaming of striking it rich through scratch-offs or Choctaw trips.

Ronnie was known for being the center of attention, his tall tales, friendliness, positive outlook, and loyalty. He had a way of coaxing a smile or a laugh out of everyone he met, and he took pride in having broad shoulders to help carry the burdens of others.

He had many names, Ronnie, Stoggie, Coach, and Dad, but his most fitting name came with his role as grandfather. His grandsons affectionately called him Rowdy. Rowdy wasn't just a name, it described his personality and how he lived his life to the fullest.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father Melburn and his mother Marcell.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; their son Chris Gifford of Rockwall, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Jordan and Carmen Stogsdill, and grandsons, Holden and Cooper of Farmersville, Texas; brother Kent Stogsdill of Mathis, Texas; and sister Theresa Rice and her husband Donald of Wylie, Texas.

A public memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023, 10:30 am, at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, Texas. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family encourages donations to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society https://www.lls.org and the Healthwell Foundation https://www.healthwellfoundation.org, in Ronnie's honor.
