Emily Mattocks Carter, age 84, of Rocky Point, NC passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, NC.

She was born on December 13, 1937 in Wilmington, NC to the late Micajah Frazier Mattocks, Sr. and Bettie Marsh Barrino Mattocks.

Emily was a long-time member of Castle Hayne Baptist Church and she loved God. She enjoyed traveling to the Smokey Mountains with family, going on cruises with her brother and sister-in-law, and taking trips to Myrtle Beach. Emily also enjoyed watching soap operas and game shows. She had a sweet tooth, and her favorite thing for it was ice cream. Emily was dedicated to her family, and she loved spending time with them.

Emily is survived by her daughter, Marsh Carter Watkins (John); brother, Micajah Mattocks, Jr. (Mary); grandchildren, Grace Ann Watkins (Jacob), Cody Daniel Watkins, and Brandon Lee Watkins (Rebecca); niece, Michelle Mattocks Kurmes (Michael); and great nephew, Preston Kurmes.

Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Kenon Carter, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Castle Hayne Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Fowler officiating.
