Martha Estelle (Day) Baker
Aged: 101 years.

Martha was the daughter of Francis Homer and Nina Ethel (Wilson) Day.

She was Valedictorian of her class at Alliance High School.

Martha and Arthur Elroy Baker were married July 15, 1926.

They had five children, all born in Alliance at their home on Arch Street:

Florence b. 21 Mar 1929*
Nelson b. 24 Dec 1930
Walter b. 12 Nov 1932
Marjorie b. 28 May 1934

*Florence died 7 May 1930

Martha was a lifelong resident of Alliance and attended First Christian Church.

She was employed at Manhatten Dry Cleaners, Montgomery Ward as a bookkeeper, by Dr. Haiss as a receptionist and was a self-employed seamstress.

Martha was survived by her children, Evangeline (Al Custar, Nelson Baker, and Walter (Cristel) Baker, all of Alliance, and Marjorie (Norman) Gamble of Homeworth; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three Great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister Virginia Shaffer; and a daughter, Florence Baker.
