Peter Oscar "Pete" Ferguson, age 77, of Rocky Gap, VA; passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008. He was born August 12, 1930 in Bland County, VA; son of the late Ruben Edward and Minnie Price Ferguson. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Burlette Ferguson, Roberta Hawthorne and Rosa Hanley; five brothers, Ruben Benjamin, John Julian, William Robert, Mack Thomas and James Carey Ferguson.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Arnetta and David Burke of Columbus OH; Patty and John Dunlap, Sr. of Rocky Gap, VA; Donna Ferguson of Rocky Gap, VA; five sons and daughters-in-law, James Bridges, Ronald Nichols, Peter, Jr. and Pamela Ferguson, David Ferguson, Timothy Ferguson all of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Della Mae Dennis of Washington, D.C., Lucy Morgan of Columbus, OH; Twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Tyne's Chapel with the Rev. Todd French officiating. Interment followed in the Ferguson Family Cemetery. The family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Highland Bland Funeral Chapel; Bland, VA.
