Anchorage resident Jason Forrest DuBois, 15, died July 29, 1996, in Anchorage. There was a visitation at Evergreen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3804 Spenard Road. A second visitation was held at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian burial following. Burial with a graveside service followed at Anchorage Memorial Park.

Jason was born June 4, 1981, in Anchorage and attended Redoubt Elementary School, Soldotna Junior High School, Kenai Middle School, and most recently Mears Junior High School.He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help while living in Soldotna. His family said, ''He enjoyed visiting his grandparents in California during the summer, and helping out other children. Jason was kind-hearted, friendly, handsome and hada strong spirit. He was funny and well-liked.'' Jason enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, hiking, cooking -- especially pizza, video games, building models, and ''showed skill in carpentry,'' said his father. Jason also ''showed promise of becoming an excellent artist,'' and liked to draw caricatures and action pictures. He loved music, and played in band in sixth grade. He loved to read, especially science fiction. An avid bicyclist, he also enjoyed the mechanics of the sport and frequently worked on his friends' bicycles as well. Jason particularly loved being outdoors, and enjoyed fishing and hunting on the Kenai Peninsula. After drawing a hunting permit, Jason and his father enjoyed a successful sheep hunt there in 1994. He attended Kenai Peninsula youth camps and played baseball in the summer.

Jason is survived by his parents, Larry and Mary, and his sister Lisa, all of Anchorage; grandparents, Alice and George DuBois of Granada Hills, Calif.; aunt and uncle, Wendy and Eric of San Jose, Calif.; great-grandfather Goddard DuBois of San Diego; multiple aunts and uncles and cousins throughout California; and many friends and acquaintances in Anchorage and Soldotna. Memorial bequests may be sent to Covenant House in the name of Jason DuBois, P.O. Box 1004640, Anchorage 99510-4640. Arrangements are by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
