Melvin Harvey, age 63, of Cloutierville, La., died Monday, May 5, 2008, at the hospital in Natchitoches, La.

A short service was held Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 8, 2008.

The funeral service was held at 1:00 PM Thursday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Gardner, La. Interment followed at Calvary Baptist Cemetery in Gardner, La.

Melvin was the fifth child out of eleven children. He was a very outgoing and friendly person. He would help anyone in anyway that he could. He was a very talented mechanic, and would work on everyone's car in the neighborhood. He loved to fish, and spent most of his free time doing so. He was a jack of all trades. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He was the son of the late Andrew Harvey and the late Nettie West Harvey.

He is survived by his significant other, Betty Harvey of Cloutierville, La.; his special angel, Skylar Harvey; four sisters, Pauline Robinson of Hineston, La., Parilee Vercher of Cloutierville, La., Glayds Garrett of Many, La., and Helen Gray of Minden, La.; six brothers, Jack Alton Harvey of Cloutierville, La., Earl K Harvey of Hineston, La., Johnny Harvey of Boyce, La., Lonzo Harvey of Cloutierville, La., Oscar Harvey of Cloutierville, La., and James Carson Harvey of Boyce, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Elliotte, Ronald Elliotte, Robert K. Vercher, Joel Harvey, Jason Harvey, Travis Prothro, and Alex Prothro.
