William married Nanch Hannah McMahan (daughter of Reuben and America Ann McElvain McMahan) on 19 September 1879 in Lasater Precinct,Hamilton County, Illinois. There were four children born of their union.

After the death of Nancy Hannah, William married his second wife, Mary(Margaret?)Evelyn Cozart Plunket (she could have been married to unknown Plunket).
