"Leonard "Louie" Sharp, 85, of Keenes, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008, at his home.
He was born in Jefferson County on Nov. 24, 1922, a son of Louie Calvin and Rosa E. (Branson) Sharp. He married Elsie Marie Donoho on Feb. 20, 1946, and she survives in Keenes. He was retired from the Illinois Central Railroad and was a retired minister.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City with the Rev. Craig Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lowery-New Home Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
In addition to his wife, Louis is survived by two sons, Donald L. Sharp and wife Sharon of Xenia and Gale D. and wife Tammy of Keenes; two daughters, Thelma M. Simmons and husband Jim of Iuka, and Anita Jean Dickerson and husband Roy of Flora; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Willie Norman Sharp and wife Geraldene of East Alton; and sisters, Alma Jourdan of Keenes, Opal Ellis of Salem, and Glenna Boozer of Central City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, and six sisters.
Louis was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II in the military police".
