Daniel Keith Crane will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Naturita. Following the service in Naturita, another will be held at 3 p.m. at the Rico Community Church. Interment will follow at the Rico Cemetery.

Dan was born on Sept. 6, 1930 in Mancos, to LeRoy and Maude (Clarke) Crane. He passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at his home in Rico at the age of 72.

On Dec. 6, 1954 in Aztec, N.M., Dan married his sweetheart, Ida Kay Bramhall. Dan loved his family dearly, and was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed many hobbies, which included woodworking and building, hunting, outdoors, and visiting. Dan was an extremely active member of his community who held memberships in many different organizations, such as the Rico Masonic Lodge #79, Norwood Masonic Lodge #111, a lifetime member of the Scottish Right 32nd Degree Grand Junction Lodge, Moose Lodge of Nucla #635, Telluride Elks Lodge #692, and was a Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. The Lions Club, Naturita Town Board, San Miguel Water Board, Ouray Bank Board, Citizens State Bank of Ouray Board, and the Chamber of Commerce of Nucla and Naturita were also organizations of which Dan was a member. In 1995 he was awarded the title of Citizen of the Year.

Dan is survived by his wife, Kay Crane of Rico; his children, Judy (Roger) Echols of Cortez, Butch (Tricia) Crane of Grand Junction, Colo.; his grandchildren, Keith (Jeana) Echols, Kevin (Genevie) Echols both of Cortez, Lanette (Richard) Garnett of Grand Junction, Colo., Julie (Jared) Hemphill of Rico, Brian (Angie) Crane of Tacoma, Wash., Garren (Melissa) Echols of Cortez; his six great-grandchildren, Austin Garnett, Beau Echols, Madison Echols, Nicholas Garnett, Aria Echols, and Kaleb Echols. His sister Helen Warren of Farmington, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive Dan. Preceding him in death are his parents; his brother, Roswell Crane, and two sisters, Laura Stock and Maudie Carr.

Memorial contributions can be made in Dan's memory to the Nucla/Naturita Ambulance Fund, Nucla, CO 81424, or to the Rico Ambulance Fund C/O Rico Fire Dept., Rico, CO 81332. Services are under the direction of the Ertel Funeral Home.
