No headstone. Born Ellen daughter of James Hanrahan and his wife Maria (Fleming) Hanrahan in Limerick County, Ireland. Her father was a national school teacher. By 1879, 21 year old Ellen is a principal at St. Peter's school in Stalybridge, England. She marries James O'Sullivan at St. Patrick's Chapel in Toxeth Park, Lancaster County, England on 21 Apr 1885. James and Ellen had nine children - four died as young adults(John Francis, Catherine Kathleen and James) and one in battle in the First World War (Horace Alexander). The remaining five children lived lives reflective of their era - Agnes Genevieve kept children in her Scottish home during the 1940 bombing raids of London, Luke Aloysius fought with the British Navy during the Second World War, Ethel Anne (known as Nance) had her husband captured as as Japanese P.O.W. during World War II, Aileen's husband was also taken as a Japanese P.O.W., Mary Gladys left for the United States. Ellen was visiting this daughter, Mary Gladys when she died in the United States, therefore, she is interred in an unmarked grave in New York's Calvary Cemetery awaiting the time when she can be moved to St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery(aka Kensal Green) in London to finally rest with her husband and sons.
