Myrtle Eloise Aumiller Griffith passed away Saturday, September 27, 2003 in the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian following a short illness.

She was born October 23, 1916 in Fort Mill, SC, a daughter of the late Walter and Sally Hucks McKinney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Aumiller, who died in 1959. In later years she married Lt. Col. Bryan Griffith who also preceded her in death as did her sisters, Mary Griffin, Annie Miller, Lola Wilson and Kathleen Bodiford and her only brother, Baxter McKinney.

She was a long time member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church until it merged with Westminster. She attended St. John's United Methodist Church until she was unable to drive.

Mrs. Griffith was an independent, out going person who remained active until her illness on September 22nd, when she had a massive brain aneurysm. She made flower arrangements, dolls, and Christmas decorations. She also loved to cook and share with others.

Mrs. Griffith loved her family and her life revolved around them.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 PM Sunday afternoon, September 28 at the Wilson Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 5301 Albemarle Road. Her funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, September 29 in the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Beau Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Will & Lee Aumiller, Curtis Aumiller, Steve Moore, Daniel Barnes and great-grandson, Russell Richter. The family will receive friends following the service at the son Michael's home 13733 Castleford Drive, Mint Hill.

She is survived by two sons, Michael L. Aumiller and wife, Karen of Mint Hill and Melvin D. Aumiller and wife, Mary Ann of St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Carolyn Moore Dillard of Monroe and Melinda Barnes and husband, James of Gastonia; her one surviving sister, Mrs. Jessie "Jakie" Bowen of Charlotte; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her and always carried home a little treat or jewelry she made for them.

The family extends special thanks to the Presbyterian Hospital, Harris Hospice Staff and request memorials may be sent to the Presbyterian Hospital Foundation to benefit the Harris Hospice Unit, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233-3549.
