Raedeen Bachhofer, 71, died Monday, May 5, 2008 in a local hospital.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7th at Merkel First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Raedeen was born December 13, 1936 in Tye to Ray Justice and Iva Marie McCartney Perry. She married Melvin Bachhofer on December 28, 1956 in Abilene.
Raedeen was a Baptist and graduated from Merkel High School in 1955. She was a homemaker, a Girl Scout leader for several years and chairman of the knitting and crocheting exhibits for the West Texas Fair and Rodeo. She was also on the nominating committee for Taylor Electric Co-Op. Raedeen was a farmer and rancher alongside her husband, and was a wonderful cook and singer.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Bachhofer of Merkel; two daughters, Sue Magee and Joann Thompson and husband Richard both of Abilene; grandchildren, Robert and April Thompson, Randall and Heather Thompson, Lorena and Chris Olsen, Brandi Jo Magee and Sean Magee; great-grandchildren, Jolie and Jax Olsen and Taylor Thompson.
