Memorial services for Edgar F. Troutt were conducted Wednesday at the First Community Church in Oak. He died at his home in Oak Thursday.

He was born Dec. 23, 1904, near Mascot, Tenn., to G. A. and Nola Corum Troutt.

June 5, 1933, he and Dorothy Penninger were united in marriage in Belleville, Kan.

They lived in Deshler for several years where he had employment in the broom factory.

In 1946, they moved to Oak where he was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad until ill health forced early retirement.

Always an avid baseball fan, he pitched for the Davenport, Deshler and Oak teams. As age and health curtailed active participation, he watched the games and kept up with current teams.

As a young man he became a member of Roseberry Baptist Church, Mascot, and years later transferred membership to the Oak Community Church. He sang in the choir and served on the church board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, who died in infancy; a sister, Allie Bailey; and his son, James Edward.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; daughter, June Smith; grandchildren, Michael Troutt, Terri Newman, Joy Smith, Jerri Padron, Jackie Atkins, Scott Smith and Cindy Schneider: 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Grace Major; and many other relatives including a special couple, Newell and Ruby Corum.

Pastor Arthur Taylor officiated at the services.

Burial was in the Davenport Cemetery.

The Klawitter-Price Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
