For some days the physician had kept him under the influence of opiates almost constantly.

To this union were born three children, Mrs. Frank Butcher of North Yakima, Wash., Byron Gill of Eugene and Mrs. Edna Shumaker of Jefferson.
Mr. Gill was a first class citizen in every respect. For 32 years, he has been a deacon of the Christian Church of which he has been member since he was 20 years old. Has been a member of the City Council numerous times and was a member at the time of his death. He had been an active member of the IOOF Lodge of this city for a number of years which order had charge of the funeral ceremony. Scio has no better citizen that was John R, Gill. Honorable and upright, he leaves a blank which will remain vacant for many years
