Mrs. Bessie Bilyeu Dies
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Baptist Church by the Rev. Crossley of Lebanon for Mrs. Bessie C. Bilyeu, who died Wednesday evening at her home in Lebanon.
Burial took place at the Franklin Butte Cemetery. Mrs. Bilyeu was born in Scio. She was the daughter of Newton Thomas.
Survivors include her mother Mrs. Mary Thomas; a sister Mrs. Carlton Mary; a son Delmar Bilyeu of Cutbank, Mont.; and a daughter, Helen at home.

Mrs. Bessie Bilyeu, 51, died at her home here Wednesday night. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church at Scio, with Rev. Roy Crosly, pastor of the Lebanon Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. Louck of Scio.
She was born in Scio. The Thomas and Bilyeu families, of which she was a member, came to Oregon in the early 1880s. Her parents lived at Scio and Jordan Valley, where she spent her childhood. They also lived in Salem, where her father died. Thomas Creek near Scio was named for her grandfather.
Her husband, Lester Bilyeu, died last February. She is survived by one son, Delmer Bilyeu, Cutbank, Montana. who arrived Tuesday to be at her bedside; one daughter, Helen May, Lebanon; and her mother, Mrs. Mary Thomas, Sodaville; and one sister, Mrs. Carlton Mary, Lebanon.
