Mrs. Henry Avers passed away Thursday, December 21, 1939 at the home of her daughter, Augusta Jagels at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 9 days.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, at the house and at Christs Evangelical Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Henry Dumler; and interment was made in the Davenport Cemetery.

A male quartet, composed of Floyd Row, Glen Keim, Ray Keim and Darrell Keim, accompanied by Mrs. Lillie Snyder furnished music.

Mrs. Avers was of the sturdy pioneer stock of Nebraska, acquainted with the early hardships and privations that were so much a part of the development of the state. She came to Nebraska, in September 1883, and had lived
here ever since.

When Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in Davenport 48 years ago she, with her husband, became charter members, and had kept their membership in good standing.

Christina Frieda Bünning was born September 12, 1856, at Lubeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Joachim and Sophie Bünning. Christina arrived in the United States in 1871 and was married in 1874 to Henry Carl Avers, and to this union was born seven sons and three daughters. Surviving are her sister, Johanna of Lubeck, Germany; sons, August, Seaford, Edward and Louie, all of Davenport, Emiel of Edgar, Willie of Shickley and Art of Lincoln, Illinois; one daughter, Augusta Jagels of Davenport; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
