...born in Hallettsville, Texas to D. F. Cheney and Leila May Wilkins. He enlisted in the US Army Air Force on Sept. 4, 1942, working with Airways Communication Systems. He was discharged in 1946 after having toured many countries and serving in WWII. Raymond was retired from Gulf Oil as a Senior Supervisor.

In December of 1996 Kalleen C. Cheney became his bride in Granite Shoals.

He was a member of the Highland Lakes Baptist Church, VFW, American Legion of Kingsland and the Highland Lakes Gem & Mineral Society.

He was the father of 3 children, grandfather of 8, and great-grandfather of 2.
