Jefferson Bee, 27 August 1935, Rippey news: The community was saddened Friday when the news passed around that Grandma Smith had passed away during the night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Radebaugh, death being due to infirmities of old age. Mrs. Smith celebrated her 90th birthday about three months ago. Mrs. Smith has been in poor health for some time and her death was not unexpected. She leaves to mourn her death two sons, Geo. and Harry of Rippey, seven daughters, Mrs. Ella Hiddleson of Jamaica, Mrs. Minnie Munson of Churdan, Mrs. Etta Wiltse of Grand Junction, Mrs. Nettie Radebaugh and Mrs. Jennie Shoemaker of Rippey, Mrs. Lou Butler of Lincoln, Nebr., and Mrs. Eathel Meyers of California, one brother Joseph Wolf of Panora and one sister of Missouri, all of whom were present for the funeral. The funeral was held Sunday at the M. E. Church conducted by her former pastor, Rev. E. M. Buehler of Glidden. Music was furnished by Mrs. Emma Cain and Mrs. Pearl Chase with Mrs. Van Scoy at the piano. The casket bearers were her grandsons, Earl Munson, Harry Wiltse, Jay Hiddleson, Henry Smith, Vanden Smith and Harold Radebaugh. The burial was in Rippey cemetery. Mrs. Smith was a member of the M. E. church and was always a faithful worker at Sunday school and aid as long as her health permitted.

Globe Free Press - Rippey News - 29 August 1935 - Mary Ann Wolf was born in Brown county, Indiana, April 26, 1844 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Radebaugh on August 23, 1935, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 27 days. She came with her parents to Madison county, Iowa in 1852 and was married to Bartholomew Smith in 1865 and has lived in Greene county since 1881. She was brought up in the religions faith and has been a member of the Rippey Methodist church many years. She attended and enjoyed all services till her failing health deprived her of that privilege. She was a proud and loving mother of ten children and with her tender care grew into manhood and womanhood without a visit from the grim reaper until 1918 when he took her husband and oldest son Dana. Left to mourn her are seven daughters and two sons: Minnie Munson, Churdan, Iowa; Ella Hiddleson, Jamaica, Iowa; Lulu Butler, Lincoln, Nebraska; Ettie Wiltse, Grand Junction, Iowa; Eathel Meyers, Oildale, California and Jennie Shoemaker, Nettie Radebaugh, Geo. and Harry Smith of Rippey, Iowa.
