Born June 28, 1923, in Springville, he was a son of the late Samuel David Allen and Naomi Henrietta Young Allen.
He was married on Nov. 2, 1946, to the former Irene Ray Wimberley, who died July 7, 1995.
Allen was a graduate of Springville High School and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He worked for 30 years as a shop worker with Shaw Walker in Muskegon, Mich. He also worked in upholstery for 14 years and farmed at Springville. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he served as a medic for 2-1/2 years in the European Theater.
He leaves one daughter: Mary Alice (Rick) Allen Holz of Charlotte, Mich.; two sons: Larry E. Allen of Paris and William Ray (JoAnn) Allen of Apopka, Fla.; four brothers: Clarence (Lois) Longwood and Fred Allen, both of Florida, Emmett (Carolyn) Allen of Apopka and Virgil (Marcia) Allen of Henderson, N.C.; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by three sisters: Annie Stagner, Jessie Collins and Roberta Norwood; and a brother: Stanley Allen.
