Private in the Mexican War. Married Mary C. *Schaaf. Captain, Company A, 15th Alabama, July 26, 1861. Major, January 25, 1862, appointed by Colonel Cantey. Resigned July 12, 1862 citing ill health and fatigue, but resignation later revoked. Colonel, promoted June 9, 1864, to rank from April 28, 1863. Wounded in action Cold Harbor and Fussell's Mill. Appomattox. Postwar farmer in Lee County, Alabama. Died September 4, 1889, Lee County. Buried Linwood Cemetery, Columbus, Georgia."
