Roxana- Claude Melvin Henrion, 68, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, November 8, 1998, at his home.
Born February 24, 1930, in East Alton, he was the youngest of nine children of the late John and Nettie (Edwards) Henrion.
He was employed by Nelson Tree Farm in Godfrey for 35 years. He served in the Air Force where he was a buck sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F. W. in San Diego, California, attended Saints Peter and Paul School and enjoyed making church birdhouses.
He married Ruth Ellen Burns at 7 p.m. on December 7, 1977 in Mobile, Alabama. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Marjorie Ann Wense of Brighton, Dawn and Kevin Perrine of Staunton and Rhonda Ivanuck of Bethalto; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Claude M. "Stormy" and Pam Henrion II of Staunton, John Claude Henrion of Godfrey; 17 grandchildren, Donald Ray, Jimmie, Robbie, Stevie, Kevin II, Devon, Nathan, Jessica, Felicia, Adam, Corey, Claude M. III, Randy, Corey, Autumn, Amber, Akeyla, a great-grand-daughter, Ashley; two sisters, Elizabeth Rives of Staunton, Josephine Schmidt of Alton; and lots of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Henrion Jr.; and five sisters, Blanche Duff, Goldie D'Italia, Bernice Shaw, Marcella Sherman and Ruth Rives.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today with the Rev. Jeff John officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with graveside military rites by Bethalto American Legion Post 214.
