Graveside services for Mrs. Mertie Kennedy Smiley were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2008 with Reverend Tommy Hutto officiating. Burial followed in Alexandria Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Smiley, 86, of Crockett, formerly of Alexandria passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in the Whitehall Nursing Center.

Mrs. Smiley was born June 25, 1921 in Glenmora, Louisiana and having lived in Crockett for the past four years, previously living in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was a retired beautician having worked for approximately 25 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Woodworth.

Preceded in death by her husband, Willie Smiley; father, Jeff Kennedy and mother, Addie Kennedy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Patsy Johnson of Gonzales, LA, son, Billy Smiley and wife, Arlene of Crockett; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four great grandchildren

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to charity of donor's choice.
