Son of Robert L. Bohanon and Elsie A. Bell (Bohanon, Moore). A citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, he served in the U.S. Army, 71st Infantry, Co. G, from 1942 through 1945 and received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and EAME Service Ribbon. He was survived by one daughter, Sylvia, and six grandchildren.

Headstone provided by the VA, but birthdate incorrect. Enlistment, discharge, medical, and social security records all list birthdate as July 22 not August 22.
