Sue Ann Kovars, 74, of Pekin, IL,passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, in Peoria, IL.


She was born February 14, 1950, in Chicago Heights, IL, to Richard and Grace Kielman Dewes Sr. Her parents; brother, Richard Dewes Jr. and grandson, Taylor James Damaio [265989352] preceded her in death.


She married the love of her life, David R. Kovars April 4, 1970, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Richland Center, WI; he survives. She is also survived by her loving two children, one son and his wife and one daughter and her husband; her four-legged child, Max; a brother; a sister; five adoptive grandchildren, Sarah and countless other family members and friends.


Sue graduated from Richland Center High School and attended Richland College. She worked in communications for over 30 years, retiring from Sprint, in 2011. Sue was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Pekin, IL where she previously worked in the parish office and devoted a lot of her time and talent. She was on the Altar and Rosary Society, Liturgy Committee and assisted with the children's choir. She also played a significant role in decorating the church for all occasions. She loved traveling, shopping and decorating, especially for Christmas. She also loved animals. Most of all she loved her family and friends. Sue had a big heart and loved helping others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.


A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Pekin, IL with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. at the church. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the Mass. Burial will be held at a later date, in Wisconsin.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund in her name.

The family has entrusted Abts Mortuary, in Pekin, IL with arrangements.
