Kathleen Ann Clements (Kay), 55, of New Hartford, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2008. Her strength and desire to live as well as her compassion for others above herself was an inspiration to all who knew her. Kay was born in Oneida, NY, on December 3, 1952, a daughter of Charles Lester and Virginia Davis of Erieville, NY.
Kay's pride and joy was her family; her loving husband David and her two amazing daughters Katherine Anne and Kristen Eloie. In addition, she is survived by her parents Charles Lester and Virginia Lyga Davis of Erieville, NY. She will be remembered fondly by her siblings and their families; brothers Charles (Nancy) Davis of Erieville, NY, Ric Davis of Liverpool, NY and her sister Tami (Ritch) Selfridge of Bainbridge, NY.
In addition to her loving family, Kay was blessed with many friends and coworkers that enriched her life on a daily basis. The memories and laughs she shared with each of you filled her with joy.
Kay received her education at Cazenovia Central School and SUNY Cortland. She was dedicated and driven in everything she did. Over the years she taught at Sauquoit Central School, worked at Cooperative Extension in New City, NY, was the Youth Director at the Morgan Horse Association and a Program Manager at SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica.
As if to save the best for last, Kay's career path lead her to become the Executive Director of the School and Business Alliance (SABA). It was through her vision, drive and leadership that this program grew to its current success. Kay's efforts developing SABA will have a long lasting impact on students, employers and her community. To honor her achievements, Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES has established a scholarship in her name.
Kay loved the outdoors and all it had to offer. Her family will forever value the time spent camping at Limekiln, annual trips to Lake George, and canoeing and kayaking in the afternoons; especially at her parents' camp on Hatch Lake.
Kay had a passion for horses. She loved participating in horse shows and enjoyed riding in the fox hunts in Cazenovia.
Her family will forever remember her devotion to them and her always being there in times of need. We will miss her presence at family celebrations and her thoughtfulness in always selecting just the right gift to make you feel special.
Kay's family would like to thank the tireless efforts of her doctors, practitioners, nurses and medical professionals for their compassionate care and support during the past years. We give special thanks to the staff at Crouse Hospital - 4 South and those at the Brittonfield Center.
Calling hours will on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
