1947: MVT (3 Mar 1947): Tom Davis of Near Modale Dies Friday: Tom Davis, 74, died at 11:20 p.m., Friday at his farm home three and a half miles northwest of Modale. He had been in ill health for some time. Mr. Davis was born at Hamburg, Ia., April 29, 1872. He had been a resident of the Modale area for 68 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dora May Davis; sons, George and Raymond of Mondamin; and daughters, Mrs. Owen Mahoney of Ceres, Cal., Mrs. Ruben Johnson of Blencoe and Mrs. Garland Horbeck of Logan; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The body was taken from the Hardy funeral home to the Davis farm residence Monday afternoon. Services will be held from the Methodist church in Modale at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday. The Rev. Dale E. Strong will officiate. Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery. Pallbearers: Harold, Clyde, Ernest and Bud Davis, Ray Yutesler and Lawrence Wallace.
