Her father served as a captain with the United States Navy, she attended St. Francis Xavier for Academy for Young Ladies and during this period, she earned the distinction of being crowned the first Miss USA. This led to a contract with Universal Pictures and her appearance with a minor role in the Abbott & Costello picture "Abbott & Costello Go To Mars" (1953). She went on to have a more substantial, leading role in the Martin & Lewis film "Pardners" (1956). It would be the small screen in which she found steady work, as she appeared on the shows "The Jack Benny Program," "The Burns & Allen Show," "Judge Roy Bean," "Perry Mason," and "Marcus Welby, M.D." She was a sidekick to Johnny Carson on one of his early TV programs, "Earn Your Vacation." She was formerly married to actor/director Jack Webb.
