Ralph was born in Wilmington and lived there all of his life until, he enlisted in the Marines.
When Ralph arrived in Vietnam 13 October 1967, he was assigned to H & S Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. The Marines were on a combat patrol in the vicinity of Phu Lo,c when they encountered
hostile forces. Ralph died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile rifle fire.
Survived by his mother, Wanda A Thompson of 937 Pine St, Wilmington, DE and his father; Ralph L Thompson Sr of unknown address.
