WWI Battles Fought: A.E.F. France Chipily Ridge August 9, 1918, Mort Homme September 26, 1918, Boise De Charome October 10, 1918. Wounds received in service: amputation, thigh, left junction of upper third middle. Silver Victory Button and Purple Heart issued. Honorable Discharge from The United States Army certifies he was Private First Class, Co "I" 131st Infantry. When enlisted he was 28 years old and by occupation a Collector. He had blue eyes, dark brown hair, fair complexion, and was 5 feet 7 inches tall.

Joseph D Robertson was appointed Postmaster of the Barrington Post Office May 28, 1920. September 1, 1929 Joe Robertson moved the post office from 117 Cook on the Cook County side of Barrington to larger quarters on the Lake County side at North Hough and Applebee Streets. That was the first time in 75 years that the post office of the village was out of the Cook County side.
