Wm. Kelly Dies at His Home on South Chestnut Street Sunday.
William Kelly was born in Armagh county, Ireland, June 17, 1826. He came to America in 1852 and was married to Ann J. Lundy in Bishops Mills, Canada, March 22, 1855. With his young wife he moved to Belvidere, Ills., where he lived till the spring of 1859, when he moved to Olathe.
In the spring of 1861 he moved to the Kelly homestead in Gardner township where he resided till 1903, returning to Olathe where he died April 16, 1911 age 84 years and 10 months.
He united with the Presbyterian church in his boyhood, transferring his membership to the Olathe church in 1873.
As a member of the Olathe militia he took an active part in protecting the town during the Civil War.
He is survived by nine children, May Rudy of Craik, Canada; Belle Pettit and Kitty Smith of Oklahoma Alex., W. J., Sam J. and Sadie Scudder of Olathe; Tom H. of Kansas City, Mo., and D. Clarke of Bonner Springs.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Shedd of Yates Center, Kas., at the Presbyterian church Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
The remains were laid to rest in the Olathe cemetery beside his wife who preceded him January 7, 1908.
